So I hired this guy today to work for the company. His name is Matthew, he is 29 has 5 kids, and lives in an apartment. He does not have a college degree, but he is, as far as I can figure, a musician, a real estate agent, a web designer, and a gadget buff. It was kind of an uncanny experience because of course I am or have done all of these things. The disturbing thing is, he works for me. For $10.00 / hour. He told me that he needs to make $1000 per month because his wife is quitting her job and she made about that.
I'm not saying any of this out of pride, actually, quite the opposite; but I need to get my butt in gear. I have a lot in common with this guy in that he has done so much and has not really chosen one thing to specialize in. I guess I've been fairly successful at an early stage in my career, but I don't want to end up 29 with 5 kids and making $1000/ month. That would be a serious bummer, considering inflation, cost of living, the price of tea in China and not to mention I already make more than that.
Ugh... I wonder if I can buy a degree from somewhere...
